Catherine Marchewitz

Catherine is Managing Director at Governance & Values, an engagement facilitator delivering services across the full investor stewardship value chain — including advisory, education, engagement, and escalation.

She brings extensive experience in governance and sustainable finance from both academia and industry. Her academic background includes roles at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, and Technical University of Darmstadt. In addition, she has held senior positions in marketing and corporate communications within the financial sector, including at LRI Group, Aquila Capital, and KBC Asset Management.

Her research focuses on the role of regulatory frameworks and capital markets in driving the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors. In particular, she examines the development of sustainable finance taxonomies worldwide and their contribution to financing the transition to net zero. She also focuses on climate-related investor stewardship with corporates and policymakers, as well as corporate transition planning.

Catherine is a member of the Think Tank of the Corporate Responsibility Interface Center (CRIC e.V.) and serves on the jury of the Sustainable Finance Award.
