Stewardship is increasingly moving from principle to practice.

We are delighted to see growing interest among asset owners in Japan in strengthening their stewardship capabilities and exploring how to implement the responsibilities set out under Principle 5 of the Japan Stewardship Code.

In collaboration with the Independent Managers Club (IMC), we recently supported a series of introductory webinars on Investor Stewardship and the Certified Stewardship Professional (CSP©) program. Across three sessions, more than 30 participants joined the discussion to explore the foundations of stewardship and the practical implications for asset owners.

The strong interest confirms what we increasingly observe across global markets: while stewardship codes and principles are now well established in some markets, many organizations are seeking practical guidance on how to translate these expectations into effective governance, engagement, voting, escalation, and reporting practices.

At StePs, our mission is to support the professionalization of stewardship through education, certification, and the development of internationally recognized competencies for stewardship professionals.

We would like to thank the Independent Managers Club for the opportunity to contribute to this important initiative and Mike Lubrano for leading the sessions.
The future of stewardship depends not only on strong principles, but on strong stewardship professionals.
